  2. I was able to borrow on an inter-library loan the book
Titanic Eyewitness: My Story by Frank J.W. Goldsmith. The most interesting part as far as family history is concerned was written by his wife Victoria A. Lawrence Goldsmith. She quotes birth and death dates and places and the names of three sons. She writes about their marriage and travels together, and Frank's jobs.
When Frank died his remains were cremated and in April 1982 his ashes were strewn over the spot where the Titanic sank, by a Coast Guard HC130 reconnaissance plane. The ashes were released from their canister by Petty Officer John Flynn and tossed away from the aircraft. Frank had always desired for this occasion and it was accomplished for him.
